The unique combination of hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes which has been delighting young children and helping them learn to read for many many years.
The wonderfully anarchic Cat in the Hat is one of the most popular characters in children’s fiction, and this book is ideal for budding readers to tackle on their own.
The Cat shows up at the house of Sally and her unnamed brother one rainy day when their mother is away. Ignoring repeated objections from the children's fish, the Cat shows the children a few of his tricks in an attempt to entertain them. In the process he and his companions, Thing One and Thing Two, wreck the house. The children and the fish become more and more alarmed until the Cat produces a machine that he uses to clean everything up. He then says his goodbyes and disappears just before the children's mother walks in.
When a charming polar bear cub climbs into bed one night, she asks her Mama a very important question: "Where did I come from?" As Mama bear tucks her youngest cub under the quilts, she lovingly explains, "We wanted you very, very much, and we are so very glad because..."God gave us you." Perfect for bedtime, naptime, storytime or anytime, God Gave Us You builds children's self-esteem and assures each one that he or she truly is a treasured gift from the Lord.
Psalm 127:3 Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. (NLT)
Sister is home sick from school. Mama wants to take good care of her so she can get well quickly. It turns out that keeping Sister happy all day long is no small job! Soon both Sister and Mama are more than ready for a return to school.
Sister bear wakes up sick one morning and has to stay home from school. However, a rest day for her means more work for Mama bear. Mama bear is running around the house trying to take care of Sister and Honey bear while still doing household tasks like laundry, dishes, and meals. The day wears Mama out and she gets sick just like Sister. I remember reading the Berenstain Bears books when I was little and I loved them. Now reading them again, I think the draw to the book is simply the novelty of the brand rather than the quality of literature itself. It was a good and simple story, great for early readers, but there was nothing particularly special about it. However, I did enjoy the illustrations because they were cartoon-like and bright. They really draw the eye of the reader. The reading level of this book is grades K-2.
The Berenstain Bears: Sick Days by Jan Berenstain, Mike Berenstain
Little Critter has a musical hobby . . . and it's noisy He's excited about his new drums, and this means playing them everywhere. But Little Critter soon realizes that he might need just a few more lessons before he's ready for his own rock-and-roll band
The Little Lights Berenstain Bear series helps children learn how God wants them to live every day.
Most of the Berenstain Bears’ neighbors are like the Bear family—they keep their homes neat and clean. Except for the Bogg Brothers who live in a run-down shack. In The Berenstain Bears Love Their Neighbors children learn that being a good neighbor takes more than keeping a nice home.
Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from the family home and studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

This timeless Dr. Seuss classic was first published in 1960, and has been delighting readers ever since. Sam-I-Am is as persistent as a telemarketer, changing as many variables as possible in the hopes of convincing the nameless sceptic that green eggs and ham are a delicacy to be savoured. He tries every manner of presentation with this nouvelle cuisine--in a house, with a mouse, in a box, with a fox, with a goat, on a boat--to no avail. Then finally, finally the doubter caves in under the tremendous pressure exerted by the tireless Sam-I-Am. And guess what? Well, you probably know what happens, but even after reading Green Eggs and Ham for the thousandth time, the climactic realization that green eggs and ham are "so good, so good, you see" is still a rush. As usual, kids will love Dr. Seuss's wacky rhymes and whimsical illustrations--and this time, they might even be so moved as to finally take a taste of their broccoli. (Ages 4 to 8)..

Anacrobatic act begins with one bear on a unicycle and gradually increases until there are 21 bears and 16 wheels flying through the air, in a beginning reader that offers a unique counting book, courtesy of the Berenstains
Bears on Wheels is a great book to help children to learn how to count. There is a simple story where on each page, you get a bike with a different number of wheels for them to count, and a different number of bears on the bikes.
Note: the numbers covered are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 21.
As with most Berenstain Bears books, the highlight for me is the cute bears in the artwork.
Overall, a good simple first-reads book for little ones that mostly acts as a simple learn-to-count book
Bears On Wheels, by Stan Berenstain, is about bears who ride wheels. It starts out with one bear on one wheel. But then it continues on to all sorts of different numbers of bears on all sorts of numbers of wheels. But it always goes back to one bear on one wheel many times throughout the story. Make sure to read the , and expect a fun, mouth-tiring book.
As it changes the amounts of bears and wheels many times, it always returns to one bear on one wheel which makes it a circle story. That is always a fun reading strategy that children love to read! Not many children will say they have seen bears on wheels, so this is an interesting book for children. I recommend it!
